You know what gets me steamed? When someone tells me that they’re following The Secret, and then, as they continue to talk, I learn that they’re trying to “think” their way into success. There’s a time and a place for visualizing your success, believe me. And I believe strongly that having the right mindset is key to achieving your dreams. However, if all you’re doing is relying on “attraction” to get you where you want to be, then you’re missing out on one of my laws of business success: the Law of Action.

Don’t get me wrong. The Law of Attraction is great. It just won’t get you all of the way there. Let me explain. Imagine someone who wants to be a writer. This person desperately wants a book deal with a major publishing house. Now imagine that she spends all day, every day, sitting on her sofa, dreaming of her book deal. She can visualize writing the book, she can see herself negotiating the contract, she can even see the book tour, with hundreds of fans lined up around the block to have her sign a copy of her book. But I think that you and I both know that if this chick doesn’t get off her butt and start writing her book, none of her dreams of a book deal will ever happen.

The Law of Attraction is meaningless without the Law of Action.

Did you ever hear, “God helps those who help themselves”? That’s as much of a universal law as the Law of Attraction is! And I call it “The Law of Action.” The Law of Action is this: Action attracts. Put the time and effort into your business and show The Universe that you’re serious, and you’ll see things start to happen.

“Dreams pass into the reality of action.
From the actions stems the dream again;
and this interdependence produces
the highest form of living.”

- Anais Nin

When you know what you want, you’ll take action to get there. And that action-taking will encourage the dream. You’ll create a cycle of success — attraction plus action! So act. Pursue your dreams with action and vigor. Show God/Spirit/The Universe that you believe in yourself and you believe in your business by taking action. If The Law of Attraction hasn’t brought you the success you desire by now, then it’s time to put some good, old-fashioned, elbow grease into your business and bring the Law of Action to life.

Running online business frees you from many legal issues that can be a big headache when you operate a brick-and-mortar store. However, the rule is still there. And I’d like to share some important legal aspects every online business owners need to know.

Domain name

Domain name is the identity for your online presence. However it can also get you into trademark issues. One of the most common problem is the use of trademark names or brand names that violate intellectual property of another owner. For instance, you cannot use eBay in your domain names. There have been numerous cases for inclusion of ‘ebay’ in domain name that lead to legal actions. Usually this will effect a ceases and desist order, requiring you to abandon the domain name without any compensation. You ought to be very careful when you choose a domain name.

Copyright issues

One of the most important area in legal rules is the copyright violation. You have to know the related rights when you plan to use anything for your online business, including coding, images and videos. Many people use images from search engines for their own sites, but they may actually violate the law. In particular if you use an image from some stock images sites without authorization, you can be sued by these sites. When legal action is taken, it can cost you hundreds of bucks for illegal use.

Privacy policy

Personal privacy has become a top concern recently, especially in social networking sites when data can be spread very easily. You need to state clearly about your site’s terms of service and privacy policy, so that visitors can understand the use of their information.

People who have spent most of their life for building their business must have already known how hard it is to maintain the business and to make it bigger. It is not an easy job for them because there is time when they face the downturn in their business and suddenly lose all their assets, not only their assets in business but also their personal ones. Thus, some people are quite afraid to expand their business.
